Опис
Plant in moist, slightly acidic, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial to full shade — Bowman's root is a graceful, airy native perennial of eastern woodland understories, producing a cloud of delicate five-petaled white to pale pink flowers on reddish-tinged branching stems in late spring to early summer — one of the most elegant of all native shade-garden plants. The leaves are trifoliate (three leaflets), giving it the specific epithet, and color attractively to orange-red in fall. It grows naturally in moist, rich, rocky woodland slopes and ravine banks from Ontario south to Georgia. Unlike most shade perennials it has a somewhat shrubby, upright structure rather than a mounding habit, adding height and structure to the shaded border. Bowman's root serves as a host plant for several native moth species and provides nectar for hummingbirds. Once established it is long-lived and low-maintenance. An outstanding native for the woodland garden in zones 4–9.
