Опис
Georgia Holly is a rare and regionally endemic native deciduous holly of the upper coastal plain and piedmont, found in a narrow range across Georgia, Alabama, and adjacent states, where it grows as a spreading shrub in the understory of moist, well-drained, sandy-loam upland forest. Distinctive among native hollies for its unusually long flower and fruit pedicels — the scientific epithet longipes means 'long-footed' — the bright red berries appear to float in space on their elongated stalks, making them more visible and accessible to birds than the closely bunched berries of many other holly species. A candidate for greater cultivation in the native plant garden, Georgia Holly is a multi-season ornamental shrub with small white spring flowers, deep green summer foliage, vivid fall berries, and clean branch structure in winter. Plant rooted cuttings in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic, humus-rich soil in partial shade; as with all native hollies, both male and female plants must be present for berry production.

Час посадки: 0–4 тижнів spring
Plant rooted cuttings or container-grown transplants in spring in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic, humus-rich soil in partial shade to full sun. Georgia Holly is dioecious and requires both male and female plants nearby for berry production. It is rare in cultivation but available from specialist native plant nurseries.
