Опис

Florida Privet is a tough, adaptable native shrub, native to coastal hammocks, scrub, and beach margins of south Florida, the Keys, and the Caribbean, where it grows in thin, well-drained, sandy or rocky soils under the influence of salt spray and periodic drought. Related to the ornamental privets used in hedges but native to the Southeast, it produces tiny yellow-green flowers in very early spring (sometimes as early as January) that are among the first nectar sources of the year for native bees, followed by small, dark blue to black oval berries that are important food for migrants and resident birds. An excellent native hedge, screen, or windbreak plant for coastal zones 9–11 where it tolerates salt, alkaline soil, drought, and occasional flooding; male and female plants are needed for berry production, so plant a group for wildlife benefit. Prune as needed for shaping — it is fast-growing and responds well to trimming. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 36–60 дюймів Висота: 72–144 дюймів Дні до схожості: 30–90 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
