Опис

Florida Cherry Palm — also called Buccaneer Palm — is one of the rarest native palms in the continental United States, known from only a handful of natural populations in the Florida Keys, while more widespread through the Caribbean and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. The trunk is distinctively swollen in the middle and tapered at both ends, giving the palm a unique hourglass or belly-shaped profile not found in any other palm native to Florida; the small, round, cherry-sized fruits ripen from green through yellow to bright red and are edible, eaten fresh or used in Caribbean countries to make a cherry liqueur. Extremely drought-tolerant and highly salt-tolerant once established, Florida Cherry Palm is among the toughest ornamental palms for Zone 10–11 coastal and xeric landscapes. Plant fresh seeds in warm, well-drained, sandy soil in full sun; germination takes 2–6 months and young plants grow slowly before accelerating in their preferred warm, sunny, frost-free conditions. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 96–144 дюймів Висота: 120–300 дюймів Дні до схожості: 60–180 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 24–32°C
