Опис

Plant in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial to full shade; white firespike is a lesser-known but equally attractive relative of the scarlet-flowered firespike (Odontonema tubaeforme), producing tall, graceful spikes of pure white tubular flowers on dark, glossy-leaved plants in late summer and fall. It is an outstanding shade-garden perennial for zone 9–12, providing important late-season white flower color in deep shade conditions where most other white-flowering plants require more light. The white flowers are particularly effective at brightening dark corners of the garden and glow beautifully in evening light. Like red firespike, it grows most vigorously and productively in the bright shade of large trees or pergolas; it is somewhat more cold-sensitive than the red species and benefits from mulching in zone 9. Propagate from stem cuttings taken in summer. White firespike is less commonly available than red firespike but increasingly offered by specialty nurseries in the Gulf South. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження живцюванням Відстань між рослинами: 36–48 дюймів Висота: 36–72 дюймів
