Опис

Georgia Plume is one of the rarest and most endangered native shrubs in the United States, a monotypic genus (the only species in its family in North America) endemic to the Sandhills and longleaf pine region of Georgia, where fewer than 50 wild populations survive in dry, sandy, acidic longleaf pine savannas and turkey oak ridges. In July it produces spectacular terminal plumes of small white, four-petaled flowers in drooping clusters 6–12 inches long — an arresting display on a plant that looks unlike anything else in the native flora. The species rarely sets viable seed in the wild (likely due to the collapse of its pollinator community), and natural populations reproduce almost entirely by root sprouting; specialty native plant nurseries propagate it by root cuttings. Grow in dry to moist, well-drained, sandy, acidic soil in partial to full sun — it is intolerant of heavy, wet, or alkaline soils. Supporting cultivation of Georgia Plume in private gardens is an important conservation act. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 72–120 дюймів Висота: 72–240 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–30 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C

Georgia Plume is critically rare in the wild and should only be sourced from specialty native plant nurseries; the species rarely produces viable seed and is most effectively propagated by root cuttings.
