Опис
Plant in well-drained, alkaline to neutral, rocky or caliche soil in full sun; Texas persimmon is a small native multi-trunked tree of the Texas Hill Country and Rio Grande Plains with distinctive smooth, peeling gray bark revealing white-green underbark (one of the most beautiful native bark patterns in the Southwest). The small round fruits ripen jet black in August–September and are intensely sweet when fully ripe, though the black pulp stains everything permanently — including lips, fingers, and clothing. They are eaten fresh, dried, or cooked into syrup and are an important food for coyotes, bears, gray foxes, and birds. The tree is extremely drought tolerant once established and requires alkaline, well-drained soil. Both male and female trees are needed for fruit production.

Час посадки: -2–4 тижнів spring
Plant container-grown trees in late winter or spring in well-drained, alkaline to neutral, rocky or caliche soil; this is a separate-sex species — both male and female trees are needed for fruit, though female trees can produce some fruit without pollination.
