Опис

Royal Poinciana is widely considered the most spectacular flowering tree in the world, native to the dry deciduous forests of Madagascar and now naturalized throughout the tropics and subtropics, producing in late spring and summer an overwhelming canopy of enormous, brilliant scarlet-orange flowers with yellow-tipped petals that can completely conceal the wide-spreading, umbrella-shaped crown — a display so vivid that the tree is visible from miles away. The fine, bipinnate, ferny foliage provides delicate shade during the non-flowering months, and the dark brown seed pods (up to 2 feet long) persist through winter, rattling in the wind. In zones 10–11 it is reliably perennial, and in favorable coastal conditions may be semi-evergreen; it is killed to the ground by even light frost and therefore confined to South Florida, the Florida Keys, and other subtropical areas in the continental US. Grows extremely fast — up to 5 feet per year in good conditions — but needs 5–10 years to reach first flowering. Provide well-drained soil, full sun, and space for its wide-spreading roots and canopy. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 300–480 дюймів Висота: 240–480 дюймів Дні до схожості: 7–21 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 24–29°C

Royal Poinciana is intolerant of frost, heavy clay soil, and poor drainage.
