Опис

Coastal Joe-Pye weed is the compact, coastal-adapted Joe-Pye species of the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plain, typically shorter and more restrained than its inland relatives (hollow Joe-Pye and spotted Joe-Pye) while producing equally beautiful, rounded, domed flower clusters of dusty pink to light purple that smother the plant in late summer and fall. Its compact size (3–5 feet) makes it more appropriate than the 6–8 foot inland species for typical garden borders, perennial beds, and rain gardens where the giant inland Joe-Pye weeds would overwhelm surrounding plants. Like all Joe-Pye weeds, it is a specialist butterfly plant — tiger swallowtails, monarchs, and large skippers congregate on the flower heads in late summer with impressive regularity — and an important late-season nectar source for native bees preparing for winter. It is naturally adapted to the acidic, sandy, moderately moist soils of coastal flatwoods, wet savannas, and streamside thickets of the Gulf Coast Coastal Plain, making it an ideal choice for naturalized woodland-edge gardens in the Deep South. Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт Відстань між рослинами: 18–36 дюймів Висота: 24–60 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–28 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 16–21°C
