Rhododendron atlanticum

БагаторічнаЛегкоДекоративнаМорозостійка

Coast azalea is a compact, stoloniferous native azalea of the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plain's sandy pine barrens and oak scrublands — producing one of the most intensely fragrant flowers of any native azalea, with white to pale pink blooms that emit a strong, sweet vanilla-clove fragrance in April

Опис

Coast azalea is a compact, stoloniferous native azalea of the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plain's sandy pine barrens and oak scrublands — producing one of the most intensely fragrant flowers of any native azalea, with white to pale pink blooms that emit a strong, sweet vanilla-clove fragrance in April and May before the leaves fully expand. Unlike most native azaleas that form upright, single-stemmed shrubs, coast azalea spreads slowly by underground stolons (horizontal stems) to form broad, low colonies — a growth habit that makes it one of the finest native azaleas for use as a naturalized groundcover or mass planting under open pinelands and dry oak canopy. Its compact, low stature (rarely over 4 feet) and tolerance of dry, sandy, nutrient-poor acidic soils make it more versatile in the landscape than taller species; it is also more heat-tolerant than northern azaleas and performs reliably in the upper Gulf Coastal Plain. Several hybrid azaleas have been developed from this species for their fragrance and compact habit. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 36–60 дюймів Висота: 18–60 дюймів Дні до схожості: 21–60 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 16–21°C
