Опис

Climbing dogbane is a rare native alternative to the widely planted Confederate jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides), naturally found in the moist bottomland forests, swamp margins, and stream banks of the Gulf Coast from Virginia to Texas — it is the only species in its genus native to North America. Unlike its Asian relative, climbing dogbane adapts to shaded conditions under bottomland oaks and cypress, making it one of the few woody ornamental vines that will thrive in genuine shade; it produces clusters of small, fragrant, yellowish-white five-petaled flowers in early summer that are visited by native bees and butterflies. The milky latex sap makes it unpalatable to deer, and the plant is host to several specialist milkweed butterflies and moths in the family Apocynaceae. While less commonly available commercially than Confederate jasmine, climbing dogbane is worth seeking out from native plant nurseries for shaded trellises, arbors, and woodland garden structures where a fragrant, native evergreen vine is needed. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 36–72 дюймів Висота: 60–240 дюймів Дні до схожості: 21–45 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
