Опис

Pitcher's clematis is a native vine of the south-central United States — Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and adjacent states — producing nodding, pitcher- or urn-shaped flowers of purplish-blue to violet-blue with thick, recurved petal tips from May through August on a twining vine that scrambles through shrubs and fences with a restrained, manageable habit. Its distinctive flowers are adapted to specialist bee pollinators and are particularly visited by native metallic green sweat bees that navigate the closed floral tube; the feathery, silvery seedheads that follow persist into winter as the seed plumes expand and catch the light. As a species adapted to drier, alkaline limestone soils, Pitcher's clematis is among the most heat- and drought-tolerant of all native clematis, performing well in zones 7–9 where summer heat and occasional drought challenge other species in the genus. Cut stems back to 12–18 inches in late winter to encourage vigorous new growth and prolific flowering the following season. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 24–48 дюймів Висота: 60–120 дюймів Дні до схожості: 30–60 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 13–18°C
