Опис

Catclaw mimosa is a native scrambling perennial of dry prairies, rocky glades, and open woodlands in the south-central United States, armed with small, recurved prickles that catch on clothing and slow passage through its loose, sprawling stems — the 'catclaw' refers to these hook-shaped thorns, while 'sensitive briar' describes the leaves that fold instantly when touched, a characteristic shared with many Mimosa species. Pink, globe-shaped, pompom-like flower heads appear from May through August and are vigorously worked by native bumblebees and smaller bees for pollen; as a legume, it fixes nitrogen through root nodules and helps improve soil in dry, impoverished areas. Its spreading, semi-prostrate habit and prickles make it most appropriate for naturalized areas, dry meadow restorations, and native prairie gardens where its sprawling character can provide ground-level interest and soil improvement without maintenance; it is drought-tolerant to an extreme degree once established on deep, sandy or rocky soil. Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт Відстань між рослинами: 18–36 дюймів Висота: 6–18 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–30 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
