Опис
Plant in moist, humus-rich, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade — Carolina phlox is a native Phlox of the southeastern US that closely resembles the familiar garden phlox (P. paniculata) but is superior in two important respects: it is significantly more resistant to the powdery mildew that disfigures garden phlox by late summer, and it tolerates partial shade better, blooming acceptably in morning sun with afternoon shade. The showy clusters of pink to magenta (rarely white) flowers appear in early to midsummer, slightly earlier than P. paniculata, and are fragrant and highly attractive to hummingbirds and swallowtail butterflies. The thick, glossy leaves (giving the common name 'thick-leaved phlox') remain in good condition through the season. An excellent native substitute for garden phlox in the shaded or partly shaded border in zones 4–9.
