Опис

Plant bulbs 4–5 inches deep in fall in well-drained, slightly acidic, sandy, humus-rich soil in partial shade — Carolina lily is the southeastern counterpart to Canada lily and the most drought-tolerant of our native lilies, adapted to the dry, sandy, acidic soils of longleaf pine and oak-hickory forests from the mid-Atlantic through the Deep South. It produces nodding, orange to red, strongly reflexed (turkscap-type) flowers with dark spots and a prominent yellow center in July–August on stems with attractive whorled leaves. The flowers are intensely sought by ruby-throated hummingbirds and swallowtail butterflies. Unlike most lilies, it thrives in the sandy, well-drained, dry-summer conditions of southeastern pine flatwoods and is one of the few native lilies suited to zone 8–9 heat and drought. Outstanding for naturalizing under pines in the coastal South. Endangered by habitat loss; purchase only nursery-propagated bulbs. Спосіб посадки: Посадка цибулин Відстань між рослинами: 12–18 дюймів Висота: 24–48 дюймів Дні до схожості: 30–60 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 13–18°C
