Опис

Brown top millet is the most popular warm-season cover crop grain for wildlife food plots and dove fields across the southeastern United States, producing abundant, small-seeded seed heads in 50–70 days that are consumed avidly by mourning doves, bobwhite quail, mourning doves, and more than 30 other species of wild birds — it is essentially the standard seed for managed dove hunting fields in the Gulf South. As a summer annual, it establishes extremely rapidly in warm soil, provides quick weed suppression through its rapid canopy closure, and produces excellent biomass for soil organic matter after incorporation; it is also used as an emergency crop cover on eroded or disturbed soils where quick establishment is critical. Sow in June or early July for peak seed production by August–September for dove season; for cover crop biomass, incorporate into the soil after seed set when stalks are still green for maximum nitrogen and organic matter contribution. Extremely heat and drought tolerant once established — among the most reliable summer cover crops for the hot, dry conditions of the Gulf Coast in July–August. Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт Відстань між рослинами: 2–4 дюймів Висота: 18–48 дюймів Дні до схожості: 5–10 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–27°C
