Опис
Plant rhizome divisions in fall in moist to wet, slightly acidic, fertile soil in partial shade to full sun — the zigzag iris is one of the parent species of the spectacular Louisiana iris hybrid group, producing large, rich blue-purple flowers on distinctively zigzag stems that hold the blooms close to the foliage in late spring. It is native to the wet bottomlands, swampy thickets, and stream margins of the Lower Mississippi Valley and Gulf Coast, where it grows in moister, shadier conditions than most other Louisiana iris species. The flowers have the classic Louisiana iris form — broad, spreading falls with a yellow signal patch and narrow, upright standards — in deep blue-violet that is stunning in mass plantings along pond edges and in rain gardens. It is one of the more cold-hardy Louisiana iris species, tolerating zone 6 winter cold well. An essential component of any wetland or rain garden featuring native iris species.

Plant rhizome divisions in fall in moist to wet, slightly acidic, fertile, loamy soil in partial shade to full sun; blue Louisiana iris tolerates slightly drier conditions than other Louisiana irises and blooms later in the season, making it valuable for extending the iris bloom season in Gulf Coast gardens.
