Blue Grama Grass

Blue grama is a native prairie grass and the most heat- and drought-tolerant of the native bunchgrasses. Direct sow after the last frost once soil has warmed, in full sun and well-drained soil. Its distinctive seed heads project horizontally like eyelashes, turning golden brown and sometimes red as they curl and dry in fall. The feathery foliage forms a tidy clump ideal for xeriscapes, meadows, and naturalized plantings. Once established it needs little water and thrives with minimal care.
