Опис

Black Willow is the largest native willow in North America and the most important native tree for the immediate stabilization of eroding streambanks, native to the moist to wet, sandy and gravelly alluvial soils of rivers, streams, and floodplains throughout eastern North America from New Brunswick to Florida and west to Montana and New Mexico. Its aggressive, fast-establishing root system grips unstable bank soil within weeks of planting, and hardwood cuttings root readily when simply pushed into moist streambank soil in early spring — making it the fastest and cheapest native solution for stream restoration and bank protection. The pendulous, narrow, lance-shaped leaves create a graceful, weeping appearance over water; catkins appear in early spring, providing one of the season's earliest pollen sources for native bees emerging from winter dormancy. Black Willow is short-lived (40–60 years) and prone to branch breakage in ice and wind storms, but its rapid establishment and wildlife value (woodpecker habitat, caterpillar host plant) make it an invaluable native pioneer for wet, disturbed sites where quick establishment is the priority. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 240–480 дюймів Висота: 360–600 дюймів Дні до схожості: 5–14 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 13–21°C

Black Willow establishes exceptionally rapidly and begins producing root anchorage within weeks; it is the preferred native species for immediate streambank and erosion control in moist to wet sites.
