Опис

Plant in moist, slightly acidic to neutral, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial shade; black mondo grass is one of the most dramatic and unique foliage plants available for shaded landscapes, producing very narrow, arching, strappy leaves that are such a dark purple-black that they appear nearly jet black — an almost unparalleled foliage color in horticulture. Small, pale pink flowers on short stalks appear in summer, followed by jet-black berries that provide additional ornamental interest through winter. It spreads slowly by underground rhizomes, forming low, slow-expanding clumps that work beautifully as a groundcover, edging plant, or textural accent in shade gardens. The black foliage creates extraordinary contrast with silver-leaved plants (Japanese painted fern, brunnera) or with the bright lime-green of golden creeping Jenny. It provides the most intense color in partial shade with some morning sun. Divide congested clumps every 3–4 years in spring to maintain vigor and appearance. Спосіб посадки: Розмноження діленням куща Відстань між рослинами: 6–10 дюймів Висота: 6–10 дюймів

The near-black foliage color intensifies in partial sun; deep shade reduces color intensity.
