Опис

Direct sow in fall in rocky, alkaline, or sandy, well-drained, dry soil in full sun — antelope horns is the iconic native milkweed of the Texas Hill Country, southern prairies, and Chihuahuan Desert, producing clusters of unusual, intricate flowers with green-white petals reflexed back to expose greenish-maroon hoods, giving the flower cluster an otherworldly appearance. The large, broad, horizontally spreading leaves are gray-green and waxy; the paired seed pods curve upward like antelope horns, full of silky-plumed seeds in late summer. It is one of the most important early-season monarch butterfly host and nectar plants in Texas, as it emerges and blooms in spring before other milkweeds are available during the critical spring migration period. Antelope horns is a deep-rooted perennial of great drought tolerance and longevity — once established in adapted caliche, limestone gravel, or dry clay it requires virtually no care or supplemental water and lives for decades. Спосіб посадки: Посів у відкритий ґрунт Відстань між рослинами: 18–24 дюймів Висота: 12–24 дюймів Дні до схожості: 14–28 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
