Опис

Plant in any moist to wet, slightly acidic to neutral soil in partial shade to full sun; false indigo is a large, airy native shrub with pinnately compound leaves and 3–6 inch spikes of unusual dark purple-violet flowers with bright orange anthers in early summer — a striking color combination. It blooms at a time when few other shrubs are flowering, providing important early nectar for native bees and the southern dogface butterfly, whose caterpillars feed exclusively on the plant. It is one of the most adaptable native shrubs for wet, poorly drained soils, riverbanks, and flood-prone areas, tolerating temporary inundation and spreading to stabilize streambanks. After the flowers, clusters of resin-dotted seed pods remain through winter. Prune back by one-third after flowering to maintain a compact form. Despite its common name it has no connection to true indigo (Indigofera). Спосіб посадки: Розмноження живцюванням Відстань між рослинами: 48–96 дюймів Висота: 60–180 дюймів Дні до схожості: 7–14 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 18–24°C
