Опис
Plant in moist, slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil in partial to full shade; hairy alumroot is the native Heuchera of the Southern Appalachians and Ozarks and is significantly more tolerant of heat and humidity than other native Heuchera species — making it the top choice for shade gardens in zone 7–9 where summer temperatures are brutal. The large, maple-shaped leaves with dense soft hairs (giving a velvety texture) are handsome throughout the season, and small white flowers on 2–3 foot stems appear in late summer when little else in the shade garden is blooming. This species is the parent of many popular hybrid 'coral bells' cultivars, including 'Autumn Bride' (exceptionally heat-tolerant with large white flowers in fall). The foliage is semi-evergreen in zone 7–8 and provides attractive winter interest. Divide every 3–4 years as the crown heaves upward from the soil.
