Опис
Plant in moist, slightly acidic, humus-rich, well-drained soil in partial to full shade; Allegheny spurge is the native North American alternative to the commonly used Japanese pachysandra (P. terminalis), naturally found on the wooded slopes and ravines of the Appalachian mountains and Southeast. The large, scallop-edged leaves are semi-evergreen to evergreen and often show attractive silver marbling; fragrant white flower spikes in early spring attract early native bees. It performs better in zone 8–9 summer heat than Japanese pachysandra, is less prone to disease, and supports native insects — making it a superior choice in every way for southern shade gardens. Slower to spread than Japanese pachysandra but ultimately forms a dense, attractive groundcover. Never seen spreading invasively.
