Опис

Plant in full sun in extremely well-drained, lean, rocky or sandy soil — perfect drainage is the only critical requirement; century plant is one of the most dramatic and architectural plants available for hot, dry landscapes and can survive on rainfall alone in appropriate climates once established. The large blue-gray rosette of thick, succulent leaves with sharp terminal spines and hooked marginal teeth grows slowly over 10–30 years before producing a single towering flower stalk (15–30 feet tall) laden with thousands of yellow flowers — then the main rosette dies, leaving behind offsets (pups) that perpetuate the clump. The juice of the leaf base was fermented by indigenous peoples of Mexico to make pulque; the young flower stalk was roasted and eaten as a sweet vegetable. Despite the name 'century plant,' blooming typically occurs after 10–30 years, not 100. Outstanding as a bold specimen and accent plant for xeric landscapes; handle with caution due to the sharp terminal spine which can cause serious injury. Спосіб посадки: Висадка розсади Відстань між рослинами: 60–120 дюймів Висота: 60–120 дюймів Дні до схожості: 7–21 Температура ґрунту для схожості: 21–27°C

Plant slightly above grade to improve drainage.
