African Mango

The African mango, or bush mango, is a large tropical tree grown for its mango-like fruit and especially its oil-rich seed kernel, called dika nut. It demands a hot, humid, frost-free climate with abundant moisture and deep, fertile soil. Plant in full sun with plenty of room, as mature trees become tall and broad. Trees are slow to bear from seed, so grafted stock fruits sooner; harvest the fallen fruit and dry the prized kernels.
